XIMENA BORGES STANDS AS ONE OF VENEZUELA’S MOST SUCCESSFUL AND VERSATILE MUSICAL ARTISTS, PERFORMING TO GREAT ACCLAIM AS ONE OF OPERA’S LEADING INTERPRETERS.

A gifted musician since her youth, Ms. Borges was already poised for professional stardom upon completion of her classical training. She traveled the world—from the Lyon Conservatory in France to the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Germany—to study under the tutelage of opera’s most legendary teachers and coaches, including Bill Schuman, Marlena Malas, JanMarc Bruin, Laurent Pillot, Massimiliano Murrali, Felix Lavilla, and John DiCostanzo.

Both highly trained and naturally talented, Ms. Borges has established herself as a formidable musical talent and as a major player in the international classical music scene. As a soprano, she performed as a soloist with some of the most acclaimed orchestras and ensembles in the classical music world, including the Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra and Venezuela’s state orchestra, the National Philharmonic Orchestra. Most recently, she was called on to perform a number of important oratorios such as Haydn’s Die Schopfung, Faure’s Requiem, Brahms’ Requiem. and Bach’s Weinachachts Oratorio, with renown ensembles Schola Cantorum de Venezuela and Camerata de Caracas.

Ms. Borges’ versatility is displayed in renowned performances in the roles of “Zerlina” in Don Giovanni, “Amore” in Incoronzione di Poppea, “Pamina” in Zauberflote, and both “Ismene” and “Aspasia” in Mitridate. These wide-ranging performances have taken her around the globe and to prominent music halls like the Teatro Teresa Carreño, Camerata de Caracas, Teatro Araldo, Sala Petrassi, the Venetian Theater, the Joyce Theater, the Whitney Museum of Art, Coro Nacional de Venezuela, Teatro Municipal de Chacao, Centro de Acción Social Por La Música.

The winner of three prizes at the prestigious Concorso Internationale Di Canto Barocco, Di Camera e Lirico L’Opera Rinata, Ms. Borges is also a soloist, producer, and assistant director of a multimedia performance piece, La Tempestad, in which she starred with her father, noted Venezuelan fine artist Jacobo Borges. The show sold out its run at the Teatro Chacao in Caracas, Venezuela and received rave reviews, with Ultimas Noticias calling it “revolutionary,” and coverage also appearing in major Spanish-language publications like El Universal, El Nacional, and Tal Cual. Renowned art critic Phyllis Tuchman proclaimed that her performance “broke the traditional barriers of opera, thrusting it into the 21st Century.” In an interview in Encuentros magazine Ms. Borges was even touted as “the voice of the future of Venezuela.”

Ximena Borges’ extraordinary gifts, captivating voice, and deep intelligence make her one of the most heralded musicians of her generation. Beloved in her native Venezuela and acclaimed in the highest echelons of the international music world, Ximena Borges’ virtuosity in performance and her innovation in musical direction combine to make her one of the most powerful and exciting classical musicians at work today.
